As we continue to wait and hear about a surgery date for Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons, Bob Cooney of the Philadelphia Daily News spoke with 97.5 The Fanatic on Monday afternoon. One of his reliable sources on the matter indicates Simmons' agent has a strong opposition to Ben returning at all this season.
"I just got off the phone with someone I trust who said there's no way his agent will let him play this season" – @BobCooney76 on Simmons

At this point, no other news outlet has reported such a story from Ben's agent, but some believe that the Sixers should think about letting him sit for a year in order to fully recover from his injury. Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer recently published an article on the potential benefits of the 2016 No. 1 overall pick taking a season off to rehab.
Although no timetable has been announced, it is expected that Simmons will miss at least three months after surgery to repair a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman. That would be anywhere from 19-33 games in the best case scenario. In six Summer League games for Philadelphia, Simmons averaged 10.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists.
