(Video) Carson Wentz hands football to Mike Trout after touchdown

Though I cautioned last week that despite his greatness Mike Trout may never be an ideal fit for the Philadelphia Phillies, Sunday's Philadelphia Eagles game isn't going to help slow the Trout-to-Philadelphia hype.

After throwing a third quarter touchdown pass to tight-end Zach Ertz, Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz retrieved the football from Ertz and then proceeded to run it across the end-zone and hand it to two-time American League MVP Mike Trout:

Trout, who is from Millville, New Jersey, is an Eagles season ticket holder. His regular Sunday "#FlyEaglesFly" tweets and attendance at home games has long led Phillies fans to wonder if Trout could ever join the Phillies.

Trout is currently signed through 2020 and is more likely to eventually be traded than re-signed, so it's fair to speculate on whether Trout actually joining the Phillies in the near future is very likely. Nonetheless, it's a fun storyline.

Wentz and Trout, who were reportedly introduced to each other by Ertz, who is a Stanford graduate, spent time together over Christmas hunting. Trout also gave every member of the Eagles a pair of his Nike shoes, in midnight green and white, for Christmas.
