Walding
The above collision led to an unfortunate injury for Mitch Walding (Steven Kiebach/Sports Talk Philly)

At Double-A Reading, third baseman Mitch Walding has developed himself into a prospect in 2017.  With 23 home runs, Walding leads the entire Eastern League in that category, compiling an .851 OPS along the way.  Unfortunately for Walding, he has hit the disabled list.

In last night's game against the Altoona Curve, Walding and catcher Chace Numata converged on a pop-up, pictured above.  During the collision, Walding suffered an ear fracture, reports Tom Housenick of the Allentown Morning call.  Those in attendance say neither Numata or Walding called for the ball, and Walding suffered a nosebleed.  Walding was replaced at third base by Angelo Mora.

It is unknown how long Walding will be on the disabled list.
