After President Donald Trump's controversial comments Friday evening – where he suggested NFL owners "get that son of a b*tch off the field" if they peacefully protest during the National Anthem – the NFL has had a swift response Sunday afternoon.
Pennsylvania's two teams were front-and-center in this.
Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie stood on the field with the team during the National Anthem, just feet away from safety Malcolm Jenkins, who had his fist raised in the air. The team as a whole, locked arms in a show of unity. The Pittsburgh Steelers, save for Army veteran Alejandro Villaneuva and coach Mike Tomlin, stayed in the locker room during the National Anthem in a peaceful protest to the President's sentiments.
Two players who spent much of their football careers playing in Pennsylvania – DeSean Jackson of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and LeSean McCoy of the Buffalo Bills – were also heavily involved in the league's response to President Trump's thoughts.
Jackson, who told ESPN's Josina Anderson that Trump's comments were "unacceptable," took a knee for the National Anthem, along with his teammate Mike Evans:

McCoy took things a step further, as he elected to continue his stretching routine during the National Anthem:

Regardless of whether you support, oppose or are indifferent to peaceful National Anthem protests, McCoy's protest is a bit perplexing. He did refer to Trump as an a**hole on Twitter Saturday, but he's also exactly a month removed from suggesting that Colin Kaepernick wasn't good enough to be on an NFL roster given any potential distractions that his National Anthem protests may create. Perhaps recent events have changed McCoy's mind – he would be far from the only one – it's just quite a turn of events over the course of a month.
McCoy aside, it's evident that NFL players haven't taken kindly to President Trump's comments. Beyond the initial racial injustices that players were protesting for, National Anthem protests now appear to include players who simply reject the President Trump's agenda, specifically his comments Friday night.
