Philadelphia Phillies rookie Rhys Hoskins had a stellar night on Tuesday night against Los Angeles, hitting the go-ahead three-run double in the seventh, continuing to add to his spectacular rookie campaign.
There's no doubting Hoskins' skill set in the big leagues. He has great strike zone approach and his power at the plate has been really exciting to watch as the 24-year-old rookie is sitting pretty with 18 home runs and 43 RBIs in 39 games played. Overall this season, Hoskins is slashing an impressive .299/.428/.729 with an OPS of 1.167. He has nearly as many walks (29) as he does strikeouts (33), which is a great sign so early in his Major League career.
The last name-worthy first baseman for the Phillies is none other than Ryan Howard. He's had two failed attempts at comebacks this year, spending some time in the minors with both the Braves and Rockies, but his contributions to Philadelphia baseball over the playoff years from 2007-2011 are well recognized by fans across the city. On Wednesday morning, Howard took to Twitter to compliment Hoskins, whose been on an absolute tear since his promotion.

Howard is no stranger to rookie success. In 2005, the former Phillies slugger earned NL Rookie of the Year honors after hitting .288 with 17 doubles, 22 home runs, 63 RBIs and 52 runs scored. 'The Big Piece' went on to win NL MVP in 2006, his 58 home run season. Howard also was a three-time All-Star and led all of baseball in RBIs during the 2006, 2008 and 2009 season.
