Sixers rookie Markelle Fultz seems to be inching closer and closer to a return. On Sunday, he participated in full contact five-on-five scrimmages at practice. This week, the team is in London for a Thursday matchup against the Boston Celtics and during media availability on Wednesday, Fultz gave an update on his status, indicating that his condition is a day-to-day situation.

While there has not been a definitive timetable for Fultz's return to the court, it seems like if it doesn't happen within the next 1-2 weeks, we should at least get a more solid targeted return date from the Sixers. This "day-to-day" statement from Fultz comes just shortly after the former Washington product hinted at a surprise for the city of London on Instagram with teammate Joel Embiid.
Markelle Fultz-Joel Embiid exchange on Instagram:
Fultz:”London got a big surprise coming.”
Embiid:”What’s the surprise?”
Fultz:”If I tell you, it’s not a surprise.”— Jon Johnson (@jonjohnsonwip) January 9, 2018
It's worth mentioning that before Christmas, Fultz mentioned that he had a "surprise" prepared for Philly on Instagram, but nothing ever came of it, so perhaps we should take his words with a grain of salt right now. There's likely no chance he plays against Boston on Thursday, but following that game, the team only plays once over the next six days. It could be a good time to get him back up to speed. Either way, it seems that the missing piece to the Sixers offense could be back in action very soon.
