The rival New York Giants were connected to the Eagles' defensive coordinator previously and with Schefter's report it appears that the Giants rumored interest is legitimate.
Schwartz is in his second season as the Eagles' defensive coordinator, and previously was a head coach with the Detroit Lions from 2009-2013. The Giants had been said to have been seeking a candidate with prior head coaching experience.
Schawartz has coached the Eagles defense to be the fourth-ranked unit in all of the NFL.
In addition to the Giants, Schwartz has also received a formal request for an interview with the Arizona Cardinals.
Quarterbacks coach John Defilippo has received formal requests for an interview from the Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.
Offensive coordinator Frank Reich's name has also been mentioned as a persons expected to receive interest in one of the league's head coaching vacancies.
