By Brandon Apter, Sports Talk Philly editor Joel Embiid taken to the hospital for further testing

The Philadelphia 76ers won their eighth straight game on Wednesday night against the Knicks, but Joel Embiid missed the majority of it after suffering a facial contusion early in the second quarter. He did not return. After passing initial concussion tests at the Wells Fargo Center, Embiid was taken to a local hospital for further testing.

If you missed the play he got injured on, you can check it out below. Embiid collided with teammate Markelle Fultz scrambling for a loose ball.

Hopefully the hospital visit is purely precautionary, but luckily if he has to miss a few games, the Sixers have winnable games against the Hawks and the Hornets upcoming. In all likelihood, Embiid will wear a facemask upon his return.

The 7-foot-2 native of Cameroon has played in every game since the All-Star Break for the Sixers.
