The Philadelphia 76ers (3-1) have the opportunity to advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Wednesday night with a win over the Miami Heat. After splitting the first two games in Philadelphia, the Sixers took Games 3 and 4 in Miami to set up the chance to punch their ticket to round 2 on their home court.
During Tuesday's media availability, Sixers big man Joel Embiid was asked what statement they were looking to make to the league. Embiid told reporters that he hears that everyone says the Sixers have a bright future, but he believes that their time is now. A Philadelphia 76ers legend echoed those words on Wednesday morning.
11-time All-Star Allen Iverson joined ESPN's First Take to talk about the Sixers just one day after Stephen A. Smith predicted that Philadelphia would make it to the NBA Finals. Iverson calls the current Sixers his "little guys" and talked about how excited he gets when they play and how the team plays the right way. The Answer also gave his thoughts as to how far the Sixers could go into the playoffs.
"I'm definitely looking forward to us finishing out this series and doing big things," Iverson told the First Take crew. "I think our time is now."
Stephen A. Smith then asked Iverson if "our time is now" meant a championship was in store, A.I. responded – "why not us?".
