When the Phillies traded catcher Carlos Ruiz to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Phillies fans did not have a chance to say goodbye to Ruiz. Ruiz did make sure he had a chance to say goodbye and thank you to Phillies fans in the form of a billboard. The billboard was up in the region last week. I saw it on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, but was not in a position to safely take a picture.
Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer was able to safely snap a picture of the message this afternoon, of which he posted to Twitter:

Ruiz is the latest to say thank you to Phillies fans.
Former Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins thanked fans with a full page ad in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Chase Utley posted a full-page ad of his own, too, shortly after Cole Hamels posted one. The theme is pretty steady: great players appreciate Philadelphia fans and playing in Philadelphia.
