Phillies recall four from Triple-A following Ironpigs playoff exit

The Lehigh Valley Ironpigs were eliminated from the playoffs on Friday night, so in turn, the Phillies made a number of roster moves on Saturday morning with four players set to join the big league club in Washington. Pitchers Luis Garcia, Phil Klein and Joely Rodriguez along with outfielder Cody Asche will head to Nationals Park an should be available for Saturday night's game in the nation's capitol.

Asche, 26, rejoins the Phillies after being sent down to Triple-A at the beginning of August. In 57 games with the Phils this season, Asche hit just .213. With Lehigh Valley, he hit .279 with eight doubles, six homers and 15 RBIs, but failed to get a hit in the opening round of the playoffs.

Garcia, 29, has seen time with the big league club this season, going 1-0 with a 7.27 ERA in eight appearances. At the Triple-a level in 2016, the right-hander is 6-3 with a 2.14 ERA. He hasn't allowed a run over his last 10 appearances.

Klein, 27, heads to the Phillies after a rough start in game three of the Governor's Cup Playoffs on Friday. Klein, who won International League Pitcher of the Month for August, allowed eight earned runs in 3.1 innings. During the regular season with the Ironpigs, he went 5-1 with a 1.52 ERA. Klein made a spot start for the Philles this season as well, allowing four runs in five innings

Rodriguez, 24, is the only one of the four that hasn't played in the majors yet. The Phillies acquired Rodriguez from the Pirates in exchange for Antonio Bastardo on December 10, 2014. He spent time this season with Clearwater, Reading and Lehigh Valley, going a ocmbined 7-0 with a 2.35 ERA. At Triple-A, Rodriguez posted a 2.79 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched.

Taylor Featherston was designated for assignment so Joely Rodriguez could be added to the 40-man roster. He hit .254 for the Ironpigs this season.
