After winning the kicker competition during training camp, Caleb Sturgis has received a little more job security.

The kicker was given a one-year extension by the Eagles on Wednesday, keeping him under contract through the 2017 season.

The contract has a base salary of $900,000 with $250,000 guaranteed.

Sturgis joined the Eagles last season after Cody Parkey went down with an injury. Sturgis was 18-for-22 on field-goal attempts last season with his longest being a successful 53-yard attempt. Sturgis also made 35-of-37 extra-point attempts in 13 games.

Rowe Trade Official

The Eagles also officially announced the trade sending cornerback Eric Rowe to the Patriots for a 2018 conditional fourth-round pick. Offensive lineman Josh Kline, originally included in the deal, had his right returned to the Patriots and was subsequently released on Wednesday morning.

With Rowe being traded solely for a draft pick, the Eagles have one open roster spot on the 53-man roster.
