Earlier on Monday, Eagles rookie linebacker Myke Tavarres, an undrafted free agent, said that he would follow in Colin Kaepernick's footsteps and sit during the national anthem.
Now, the rookie has changed course.
Tavarres' agent Corey Williams said that the linebacker will stand during the anthem prior to Thursday's game.
"He plans on standing for the National Anthem," Williams said. "Myke does not want to be a distraction to the Philadelphia Eagles organization. Myke's goal is and will always be to make the Eagles 53-man roster and help the team win a Super Bowl."
Williams added that he advised Tavarres to change his stance surrounding the issue.
Just a few moments before the news broke that Tavarres would in fact be standing for the anthem, head coach Doug Pederson issued a statement through the Eagles.
"We respect the National Anthem, its history and our many freedoms as Americans that it celebrates," the statement read. "We also respect an individual's freedom of expression."
The Eagles host the New York Jets on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
