Sixers’ Joel Embiid says he’s ‘100 percent’ healthy, rejects young kid with emphatic block

We are less than a month away from Philadelphia 76ers training camp and a little over a month away from the teams' first preseason game on October 4 against Boston. One of the biggest storylines heading into the season is the status and health of 2014 third overall pick, Joel Embiid. Following two foot surgeries, which caused him to miss the last two seasons, the Cameroon native seems finally ready to suit up for the Sixers.

Today, Embiid along with this year's No. 1 overall pick, Ben Simmons, took part in the Sixers annual Beach Bash in Avalon, New Jersey. Embiid spoke with reporters about how he feels and the progress he's made this summer leading into his first NBA season.

Embiid joins a crowded front court that is already armed with talented big men Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor, but the former Kansas Jayhawk has the most all-around talent of the three. Today, at the Beach Bash, Joel showed off some of that talent against some Sixers fans and to put it lightly, he chose not to hold back one bit….especially against this young fella.

Embiid went on to tell reporters that he expects to be on a minutes restriction not because they are afraid of him re-injuring himself, but rather because he has not played in two years.

The Philadelphia 76ers open their 2016-17 regular season on October 26 against the Oklahoma City Thunder at the Wells Fargo Center on ESPN at 8:00 p.m.
