Bradford, Offense Lead Eagles Victory Over Colts

By Kevin Durso, Sports Talk Philly editor

In Week 2 of the preseason, it was the defense that put on a show. In Week 3, the game usually set aside for the first-team to get the most playing time of the preseason, the offense made a statement as well.

The Eagles offense didn't see the best the Indianapolis Colts had to offer, but the first-team group delivered with three touchdowns and strong games from Sam Bradford, Josh Huff and company to take a 33-23 win over the Colts on Saturday night from Lucas Oil Stadium.

Scoring Summary

  1 2 3 4 T
Eagles 3 14 7 9 33
Colts 3 0 7 13 23

An early turnover by the Eagles on a drop by Nelson Agholor led to a field goal for the Colts, as Adam Vinatieri connected from 22 yards. The Eagles answered later in the first quarter with a 32-yard field goal by Caleb Sturgis

The Eagles found the endzone twice in the second quarter to take the lead. A little bit of trickery helped score the first touchdown, as the Eagles went with a jet sweep and perfectly executed it to get Huff into the endzone on a nine-yard touchdown run.

The Eagles struck again with just under five minutes remaining in the half, as Bradford placed a perfect pass on a corner slant to Dorial Green-Beckham for a four-yard touchdown pass. The Eagles carried a 17-3 lead into the half.

On the first drive after of the second half, Bradford led another scoring drive. A nine-play, 68-yard drive was capped by a three-yard touchdown from Bradford to Trey Burton

The Colts would finally get a touchdown with just over three minutes remaining in the third quarter. With the Eagles punting for the first time in the game, Donnie Jones' kick was blocked by Josh McNary and recovered in the endzone by Jordan Todman

The Eagles capped the scoring in the fourth quarter as Sturgis connected from 47 yards for his second field goal of the night and Chase Daniel placed a perfect pass to David Watford for a 28-yard touchdown pass. Cody Parkey missed the extra point attempt.

The Colts added a touchdown midway through the quarter, capping a six-play, 88-yard drive with a QB sneak by Stephen Morris for the score. Vinatieri missed the extra point.

Indianapolis would also add a late touchdown on a nine-yard pass from Morris to Trey Williams.
