Dario Saric, Croatia open Olympic play against Sergio Rodriguez, Spain

The Philadelphia 76ers have two players on Olympic Men's Basketball rosters and they open up their play in Rio on Sunday evening against one another. Dario Saric and the Croatian team oppose Sergio Rodriguez and Spain at 6:00 p.m in an Olympic preliminary match. The game will be televised on NBCSN and streamed live online.

Saric, 22,  was named the Most Valuable Player of this year's FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament. He averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. In the final game of the tournament, an 84-78 overtime win for his native Croatia, Saric scored 18 points, grabbed 13 rebounds while also dishing out two assists and tallying two steals. Saric officially signed with the Sixers in mid-July after playing two seasons with Turkish Basketball Super League team, Anadolu Efes.

Croatia boasts an intriguing lineup that includes Bojan Bogdanovic of the Brooklyn Nets and Mario Hezonja of the Orlando Magic in addition to Saric.

Meanwhile, newly-signed Sixers point guard Sergio Rodriguez appeared in four of Spain's five Olympic frendly games, averaging 8.5 points and 3.8 assists while shooting 67 percent from three-point range. This past season in the Euroleague, Rodriguez averaged 11.8 points and 6.1 assists in 24.2 minutes per game. He shot 47.7 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Spain's roster includes Pau Gasol of the Spurs, former NBA player Rudy Fernandez, Lakers guard Jose Calderon along with T'Wolves point guard Ricky Rubio. The team won silver medals in the 2012 Summer Olympics.
