Ryan Howard, Roy Halladay selected to 2016 FSL Hall of Fame class

The Advanced 'A' Florda State League unveiled their 2016 Hall of Fame class on Thursday afternoon with Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard and former starting pitcher Roy Halladay among the group of players to be inducted.

Howard, 36, was selected in the fifth round of the 2001 Major League Baseball draft by the Phillies. The slugging first baseman spent the entire season, 130 games, with the teams' Advanced 'A' affiliate in Clearwater. Howard hit .304 with 32 doubles, 23 homers and 82 RBI's in his lone season in the FSL. He's hit 372 home runs in 13 Major League seasons for Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, Halladay spent 40 games with the Blue Jays affiliate in Dunedin, Florida during the 1996 and 2001 seasons. Drafted in the first round of the 1995 draft by the Blue Jays, Halladay went 15-7 with a 2.73 ERA with Dunedin in 1996. In 2001, the Blue Jays started Halladay back in Dunedin after posting a 10.64 ERA in 19 games with the big league club the season prior. He went 0-1 with a 3.97 ERA in 13 relief appearances in for Dunedin in the FSL before returning to Toronto to go 5-3 with a 3.16 ERA. Halladay won the Cy Young Award with the Blue Jays in 2003 (22-7, 3.25 ERA) and in 2010 with the Phillies (21-10, 2.44 ERA). Doc announced his retirement at the end of 2013 after a career that saw him go 203-105 with a 3.38 ERA.
