Following last night's late extra inning thriller, Todd Zolecki reported that Jeanmar Gomez was activated after a day on the Paternity Leave list. To make room for the closer and new father, the Phillies optioned last night's starter Phil Klein to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
It was a valiant performance from Klein who did all he could to keep the damage to the minimum which gave the suddenly awake Phillies offense a chance to comeback. Gomez returns to Philadelphia for this afternoon's finale against San Francisco with 27 saves and a 2.72 ERA.
