ESPN panel predicts 20 wins for Sixers in 2016-17

The Philadelphia 76ers will have a completely different look come Opening Night in 2016. Fans will get to witness a roster that includes the likes of Ben Simmons, Jahlil Okafor, Dario Saric, Nerlens Noel and potentially Joel Embiid. There is also some excitement for second year players T.J. McConnell and Richaun Holmes.

The Sixers went 10-72 last season, avoiding a tie for the worst record in NBA history by one game set by the 1972-73 Sixers. ESPN has been forecasting the records for each conference and the recently projected the Eastern Conference, where the Sixers are ranked in a tie for 14th with the Brooklyn Nets. The panel predicts the Sixers to double their win total from last season, despite additions they will make them a far superior team.

Our projections have the 76ers doubling their win total from last season thanks in part to No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons. While it's a projection of "only" 20 wins, for Philadelphia that would be the franchise's most since 2012-13 when the Sixers won 34 games.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, to no one's surprise, are projected to finish first with a record of 57-25, which is identical to their finish last season. The Boston Celtics, who added Al Horford and a handful of draft picks, are ranked second. The Cavs and C's are followed by the Raptors, Pistons and Pacers to round out the top five.
