Eagles Nuggets: Are Eagles a fit for Josh Gordon?

The Eagles may be interested in adding another veteran wide receiver. On Tuesday, it was reported that the Eagles made a run at veteran wideout Anquan Boldin, who signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions.

There may be another wide receiver on their radar.

Cleveland Browns receiver Josh Gordon was reinstated on Monday, but will be suspended for the start of the season. Ironically, the Browns visit the Eagles in Week 1.

But what about the possibility of a trade or release by the Browns that would make Gordon available. ESPN's John Clayton was on 97.5 The Fanatic on Tuesday and said that the Eagles would likely be a player in trying to acquire Gordon if he became available.

"I wouldn't be surprised if we look down the landscape that a receiver pops up," Clayton said. "Let's say for example that the Cleveland Browns want to trade Josh Gordon. What teams might be interested? Philly might be one of those teams that would consider it. You'd be getting a great talent cheap and he could fit the outside spot."

Gordon has the talent to be a key receiver for a team, compiling 161 catches for 2,754 yards and 14 touchdowns in 35 career games, but has also been suspended twice for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Gordon only played in five games in 2014 after being suspended for the first 10 games of the 2014 season. He was also suspended for the entire 2015 season.

Gordon reported to Browns camp on Tuesday. He is out for two weeks with a quad injury.

The Eagles proved this offseason that players with off-the-field issues didn't concern them by drafting both running back Wendell Smallwood and Jalen Mills.
