Within the next 48 hours or so, the Flyers and Brayden Schenn will have reached a new deal of some sort. Whether that deal is reached through an arbitration hearing or not remains to be seen, but with the clock ticking, the sides don't appear to be close to an agreement.
According to Tim Wharnsby of CBC Sports, the Flyers have offered Schenn what is at least a two-year deal where Schenn will make $4.25 million in 2016-17 and $4.37 million in 2017-18. Schenn is asking for a salary of $5.5 million next season.

There is roughly a $1.2 million difference between the two sides as arbitration nears.
There is still time for the two sides to reach an agreement for the long-term if they choose, but as the hearing nears, this isn't the best sign to see such a wide gap.
Schenn is due for a big raise after making $2.5 million last season in what was a career year for the 24-year-old forward. Schenn scored 26 goals and had 59 points.
Schenn's arbitration hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 25.
