Sixers rumors: Dario Saric to sign with team on Friday

On Sunday, it was reported that Dario Saric would fly to Las Vegas to meet his teammates during the Summer League and sign with the Philadelphia 76ers. Because his team advanced in the Olympic qualifier though, his visit became less of a possibility.

Whether he comes to Vegas or not, it looks like the Croatian forward, acquired by the Sixers during the 2014 NBA Draft, will finally sign with the team on Friday.

Pro basketball reporter David Pick reports that the Sixers will pay $1 million to buy out the rest of Saric's contract with Anadolu Efes.

Saric, 22, was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Turin, averaging 14 points, 10 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He averaged 11.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game over 24 games last season with Anadolu Efes.

With the current NBA collective bargaining agreement, it may have been more financially lucrative for Saric to wait, as he would not be bound by the NBA rookie salary.  Thus, with the opportunity to make more in 2016-2017 in Turkey, Saric could then negotiate a larger deal in 2017-2018. Instead, he'll join the Sixers after giving them his word, something he said means "more than paper".
