Phillies No.16 ranked prospect Adonis Medina fell two outs shy of a no-hitter for the teams' short season affiliate in Williamsport, PA on Monday Night. The 19-year-old right hander struck out four and has still yet to allow an earned run this season.

With one out in the ninth inning and the count at 2-2, Auburn's designated hitter Daniel Johnson Jr. hit a single to right, breaking up the no-hitter. Jeff Singer came in for Williamsport to get the final two outs.
Prior to tonight's outing, Medina had scattered five hits over two starts, spanning 12.2 innings, holding opposing hitters to a .119 average.
Medina, the most highly regarded prospect on the Crosscutters, played on the Phillies Dominican Summer League team in 2014 before joining the GCL Phillies in 2015. He's went 5-5 with a 2.31 ERA between the two levels in 21 games, 10 of which were starts. Here's MLB.com's scouting report on Medina.
There are some exciting things brewing on the mound for the Phillies at the bottom of the organizational chain. Franklyn Kilome has electric stuff that screams future frontline starter. Perhaps a half-step behind him is Medina, whose very strong United States debut in the Gulf Coast League has the Phillies excited to see what comes next.
Medina stands out already for his advanced feel for pitching that belies his age to go along with very encouraging steps forward stuff-wise. His fastball has jumped velocity wise, and he'll now throw it in the 90-95 mph range. He throws it with sink to get groundball outs and it's possible there's more in the tank to come. He spins a good breaking ball already and has feel for a changeup, both of which are inconsistent but have the chance to be at least Major League average. Medina throws strikes, but can refine his overall command to make his stuff play up even more.
While the Phillies might be cautious with this teenager for the time being, his ability to execute on the mound could allow him to move a bit more quickly as he matures, with a future as a No. 3 type starter a possibility.
The Crosscutters won Monday night's game 5-0. Catcher Gregori Rivero went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run while right fielder Luke Maglic hit a double and scored two of the teams' five runs.
