Former Phillies manager Manuel to be inducted into Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame

Former Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is already a member of the team's Wall of Fame, and Thursday night he added another accomplishment to his belt.

Manuel was announced as a November inductee into the Philadelphia sports Wall of Fame Thursday evening, though Philly.com's Adam Hermann reports that Manuel was not able to attend the announcement.

Manuel was the Phillies manager from 2005 to 2013, presiding over a team that won five straight division titles, won back-to-back National League pennants and the 2008 World Series, among other things. Manuel won 780 games while managing the Phillies, which is a franchise record, and currently works as an advisor for the team, having played a role in the team's MLB Draft preparation.

While Manuel's name was overshadowed by the induction of former Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins, another former Phillie, pitcher Chris Short, was also announced in the 2016 class Thursday night.
