PHILADELPHIA — Jon Dorenbos — 13-year NFL-veteran long snapper and the longest tenured member of the Philadelphia Eagles — will be under the national spotlight once again on NBC, only this time for a talent that does not involve the game of football.
Dorenbos, 35, will have his magic act featured on the fourth audition episode of America's Got Talent's 11th season Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. His love for magic dates back to when he was 12 years old "as a way to cope with the conviction of his father for killing his mother," according to the New York Daily News.
"(Magic) was something that, at the darkest time of my life, was genuinely fun for me," said the two-time Pro Bowler on HBO's "Real Sports" in 2014. "It saved me, man. It really did."
America's Got Talent is a reality television series and talent show, with host Nick Cannon and a four-member judge panel that includes: Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel. Each year, the winner of the show receives $1 million — payable in financial annuity over 40 years or a present cash value of the annuity — and a chance to headline a show on the Las Vegas Strip.
Dorenbos has played in 149 consecutive games as an Eagle, which ranks second on the franchise's all-time list behind wide receiver Harold Carmichael, 1972-83 (162) and free safety Randy Logan, 1973-83 (159).
