Flyers season opener set for Oct. 14 in LA, home opener Oct. 20

The Flyers 2016-17 season will open in Los Angeles the Flyers face the Kings on Friday, Oct. 14. The Flyers will open the home portion of their schedule five days later on Thursday, Oct. 20, against the Anaheim Ducks.

The NHL announced all 30 home openers for each of the teams in the league on Monday.

In addition, the Flyers will also take on the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday, Oct. 15.

The 2016-17 season marks the 50th in franchise history for the Flyers,. The rest of the schedule was released on Tuesday afternoon.

In October, the Flyers will play 10 games, including the three above. Before opening at home, the Flyers will also face the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 18 as part of a three-game road trip to open the season.

Fans won't have to wait long for the defending Stanley Cup champions and cross-state rivals to pay a visit. The Penguins are in town on Oct. 29. The Flyers will also host the Carolina Hurricanes, Buffalo Sabre and Arizona Coyotes in the first month of the season.

Other highlights of the schedule include the Black Friday game, this year on Nov. 25 against the New York Rangers, and the Stadium Series game against the Penguins on Feb. 25.

New to the schedule this season is a mandatory bye week for all teams. The Flyers will have off from Jan. 16-20.

The Flyers split the two games with the Coyotes in 2015-16 and lost both games to the Ducks and Kings last season.
