Former Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cole Hamels reached a career milestone Sunday afternoon when he struck out his 2,000 career batter.

As ESPN Stats and Info pointed out, Hamels is the seventh player in the league currently that has reached the 2,000 strikeout plateau. The others are Bartolo Colon, CC Sabathia, Felix Hernandez, Jake Peavy, John Lackey and Justin Verlander.

Though Hamels recorded his 2,000 career strikeout with the Rangers,1,844 of his first 2,000 strikeouts came during the parts of 10 seasons that he spent in Philadelphia.

Hamels, 32, has settled in nicely in his first full season in Texas, as he entered the day with a 5-1 record and a 3.16 ERA.
