To start the seventh round of the 2016 MLB Draft, the Philadelphia Phillies selected University of Mississippi catcher Henri Latigue 197th overall.

This past season, his junior year in college, Latigue, 21, hit .353 in 207 at-bats with 11 doubles, four homers, 31 RBI's, 37 runs scored, 40 strikeouts and 20 walks. In his three years combined, he's hitting .307 with a .422 slugging percentage. He threw out 13 of the 38 base stealers that ran against him, which is 25.5 percent.

Matt Winkleman of Phillies Minor Thoughts notes that Lartigue is still rough behind the plate and will need to make improvements to stick there, but he does have the arm to handle the position. He is a switch hitter and Baseball America notes that he is better from the left side and will show gap power.
