Flyers Prospect Watch: Philippe Myers, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies reach Memorial Cup title game

The junior hockey season has one game remaining on Sunday and one Flyers prospect is still playing for the chance to win the Memorial Cup.

Philippe Myers, a defenseman for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL, and the rest of his teammates on the reached the title game of the Memorial Cup with a 3-1 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Friday night.

Myers has four goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 20 games in the QMJHL Playoffs and has one goal and one assist in four games at the Memorial Cup. Myers also scored 17 goals and added 28 assists for 45 points in 63 games in the regular season, emerging as a solid prospect for the Flyers after going undrafted in the 2015 NHL Draft. He signed an entry-level deal with the Flyers in September.

Myers and Rouyn-Noranda will face a red-hot London Knights team. We touched on some of the Knights talent with our look at 2016 NHL Draft hopeful Max Jones, but that's only scratching the surface of their offensive talent.

There may be no better top line in junior hockey than the one the Knights have. It's led by Mitch Marner, last year's fourth-overall pick to the Toronto Maple Leafs, who dominated the OHL with 39 goals and 119 points. In the playoffs, he has 44 points in 18 games and 13 points in three games at the Memorial Cup. He's joined by captain Christian Dvorak, a mid-round pick of the Arizona Coyotes who has grown tremendously in production and leadership. And finally, there is 2016 Draft hopeful Matthew Tkachuk, who is expected to be a Top-5 pick in the upcoming draft.

Jones and Cliff Pu, a projected Top-50 forward, as well as defenseman Olli Juolevi, round out a team that is stacked with talent.

The Knights clinched their spot in the championship with three straight wins in the Memorial Cup round robin portion, which included wins over Rouyn-Noranda and the WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings, featured Flyers 2015 first-round pick Ivan Provorov.

The Huskies don't have the star power that London has, but they have some quality players that has showed great determination to this point in the season and tournament. Francis Perron, a seventh-round pick of the Ottawa Senators, led the team with 41 goals and 108 points in the regular season and has 33 points in 18 playoff games.

A pair of third-rounders, Jean-Christophe Beaudin and Martins Dzierkais, were also among the team's top scorers while 2015 first-round pick Timo Meier, who has 23 points in 18 playoff games, has also emerged among the top players.

The Memorial Cup championship game is on Sunday, May 29, at 4:30 p.m. and will be televised live on NHL Network.
