Final: Cubs 6, Phillies 2 ❖ Attendance: 38,941
CHICAGO, Ill. — It was no secret that this week was going to test the Phillies rather improbable start and show just where they stand against more legitimate competition. Their first taste of the NL-best Chicago Cubs was no pretty.
The Cubs mashed three home runs in the game, including two in a four-run fourth inning, to easily beat the Phillies, 6-2, on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs got to Morgan in the fourth. Soler homered to lead off the inning and put the Cubs back in front. With one out, the Cubs put two more on base and David Ross belted a three-run home run to extend the lead to four.
In the fifth, Kris Bryant led off the inning with a home run as well to end Morgan's day.
The game was halted in the top of the seventh for a 55-minute rain delay. Another rain delay prior to the top of the ninth halted play for another 38 minutes.
After the first delay, in the seventh, the Phillies returned and scored one run as Odubel Herrera scored on an infield single by Franco, but the Phillies stranded two runners to end the inning.
