Phillies outfielder Cody Asche and left-hander Mario Hollands will continue their respective rehab assignments tonight in Triple-A with the Ironpigs.

Asche is recovering from a strained oblique he suffered in Spring Training that kept him from appearing in any game action up until recently. He's played in nine games between Advanced 'A' Clearwater and Double-A Reading, hitting .147 (5-for-34) with two homers, four RBI, four runs scored, three walks and 12 strikeouts. He went 2-for-5 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI On Tuesday in Reading. When Asche is ready, its difficult to say where he'd play on a regular basis with the emergence of Tyler Goeddel.

“I’m close,” the Phillies’ once (and possibly future) leftfielder said after going hitless in four at-bats in a rehab assignment game for Double A Reading on Thursday morning. “I’m close, for sure.”

“There’s still plenty of time,” he said. “We’ve still got a long season left. It’s not even June yet. I’ve got plenty of time to leave my mark on this year.” [CSNPhilly.com]

Last season for the Phillies, Asche split time between third base and the outfield. He hit .245 with 12 homers and 39 RBI with the Phils in 2015.

Meanwhile, Mario Hollands continues to recover from Tommy John surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his throwing arm. He missed the entire 2015 season after going 2-2 with a 4.40 ERA in 50 appearances for the Phillies in 2014. The 27-year-old southpaw has thrown 8.2 innings and posted a 1.04 ERA over six appearances thus far in his rehab assignments. He's struck out 12 and walked just one.
