On Monday morning, the Phillies parted ways with veteran catcher J.P. Arencibia after the 30-year-old requested his release from the organization to explore other opportunities.
Very thankful to the Phillies organization for granting me my release and allowing me to find an opportunity else where. #GodIsGood

Arencibia signed a minor league deal with the Phillies back in December that included an invitation to big league Spring Training. He hit .269 with three doubles, two homers, three RBI's and nine strikeouts in 13 games during Grapefruit League action.
The Phils assigned Arencibia to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to begin the season, where he hit just .167 in 48 at-bats. He is a career .212 hitter in over 460 Major League games.
With Arencibia released, the Phillies have promoted catcher Logan Moore from Reading. In addition, outfielder Alfredo Marte has been released and Darin Ruf was officially added to the Triple-A roster.
