Following a weekend where their interstate rival Pittsburgh Pirates wore ''pillbox'' hats of their own, the Philadelphia Phillies reportedly have a throwback jersey with a ''pillbox'' hat ready to be donned next month.
According to Matt Breen of Philly.com, the Phillies will wear their 1980s era throwback jerseys when they take on the Milwaukee Brewers on June 3 and June 5.

The 100 year patch, specifically the one with the 76 that looks like something the 76ers should have used when they re-did their jerseys a year ago, is a very nice touch.
Chris Creamer of Sportslogos.net says that while the ''pillbox'' hats weren't regularly worn by the Phillies during the 1970s and 1980s when they wore some semblance of the burgundy pinstriped jersey, it isn't a new creation solely for the purpose of making the throwback look cooler.
Though I'm generally more of a fan of the team's 1950s throwback, which I think includes the nicest hat that the team has ever worn, this throwback is pretty cool, especially with the ''pillbox'' hats added in.
