Saturday evening's four-hour win by the Philadelphia Phillies turned out to be a relatively memorable one, but it wasn't without cost for the team.
Charlie Morton, who injured his left hamstring while running out a sac-bunt attempt in the top of the second inning, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, according to Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.
Though someone will have to take Morton's place in the rotation at some point, the Phillies bullpen was forced to throw eight innings last night, leaving them relatively thin for the next few day. So, as Salisbury also reports, the Phillies re-called Luis Garcia, who he says will be available right away.
Garcia, 29, has pitched in parts of three seasons with the team, including posting a 3.51 ERA in a career-high 72 games in 2015.
The Phillies do have off on Monday, meaning they could elect to go with a four-man rotation one trip through the rotation, which would put off them potentially calling up someone like Adam Morgan, and leave them with one more bullpen arm for close to a week.
