Having reportedly already held private workouts with California's Jared Goff and Stanford's Kevin Hogan, the Eagles will continue their tour of the 2016 NFL Draft's top QB prospects on Wednesday when they meet with North Dakota State's Carson Wentz. ESPN's Adam Caplan with the news.

The 6'5" Wentz has been among the more talked about prospects leading up to April's draft, having capitalized on a strong post-college career circuit and combine performance. The FCS product missed a good chunk of his senior season with a broken wrist, but performed well in the Bisons National Championship game victory over Jacksonville State. He was the best passer at the Senior Bowl and showed off his physical prowess at both the NFL Combine and his Pro Day.

The Eagles have already been linked to Wentz this offseason. Last week, Lance Zierlein of NFL Network gathered information suggesting the Eagles could be a team that would try and trade up for the quarterback

The Eagles clearly need a QB and their trade up from No. 13 to No. 8 gets them closer to being able to move up for that piece, if they choose to. If they only have eyes for Wentz, then it could become very prohibitive to move up the board; however, if Cal QB Jared Goff were to be in play for the Eagles as well, it isn't much of a stretch to believe they could move up the few slots they would need to pick Goff. I believe Wentz is the more highly valued of the two QBs.

Many are split over whether Wentz or Jared Goff is the premiere quarterback prospect in this year's class. The Eagles have addressed their immediate situation at the position, but it may very well be a priority for the new coaching staff to bring in a potential franchise option as quickly as possible. Doug Pederson expressed his preference for working out quarterbacks privately, rather than observing them in a pro day setting. The Inquirer's Zach Berman's story provides the quote on that approach from the new Eagles head coach

"I won't go to the Pro Days as much,” Pederson said. “I prefer the individual workouts where you can go a little more hands-on, one-on-one with a guy."

A good amount of projections have Cleveland taking Wentz with the 2nd overall pick. Were that to be the case, the Eagles would need to move all the way to the top of the draft if they felt Wentz was the guy for them.
