Thanks to a five-assist effort from Tom Kostopoulos and a two-goal night from Carter Rowney, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins were able to complete a three-goal comeback in the third period and top the Phantoms 6-5 in overtime on Wednesday.

Rowney's 19th goal of the season capped the comeback for the Penguins at 3:28 of the extra period, after they trailed 5-2 entering the third period. Kael Mouillierat and Jarrett Burton each scored 44 seconds apart to bring the Penguins to within one, and Jean-Sebastian Dea tied the game on a late push with 4.1 seconds to play.

Kostopoulos, the Penguins' captain, earned assists on every goal except for Burton's, and set a career-high for points in a game. He previously became the fourth player to play 600 games in both the NHL and the AHL earlier this week.

Kevin Goumas opened the scoring for the Phantoms at 5:54 of the first period, while Cole Bardreau netted his 11th of the season at 11:58 of the period. Steve Oleksy scored in between, and the Phantoms finished the first 20 minutes with a 2-1 lead.

Phil DeSimone, Adam Comrie and Danick Martel all scored in the second stanza, with Comrie and Martel each capitalizing on two power plays. Comrie and Martel were just two of five multi-point scorers (both with a goal and an assist), joining Bardreau (goal and assist), Aaron Palushaj (two assists) and Taylor Leier (two assists).

Anthony Stolarz recorded 35 saves on 41 shots, and allowed six goals in a game for the second time in his career. Brian Foster turned away 15 of 20 shots through the first two periods before giving way to Frank Pallazese, who stopped all four shots he faced. Palazzese actually made his AHL debut, after signing a professional tryout contract with the Penguins on Wednesday.

The Phantoms were able to capitalize on both of their power-play opportunities, and held the Baby Pens to two goals on four chances. They recorded just three shots on goal in the third period, compared to 14 for the Penguins.

The Phantoms next head to Hartford on Saturday afternoon, for the third game of their five-game road trip.
