The Eagles made the move official, hiring Doug Pederson as the next head coach of the team.
Pederson will be introduced at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie offered the following statement on Pederson's hire.
"We are excited to introduce Doug Pederson as our new head coach," Lurie said. "Doug is a strategic thinker, a compelling leader and communicator, and someone who truly knows how to get the best out of his players. All of these factors were what initially attracted us to Doug and we believe that he is the right man to help us achieve our ultimate goal."
Pederson comes from the Kansas City Chiefs, where he served as offensive coordinator for three seasons under Andy Reid. Pederson, 47, also served under Reid with the Eagles from 2009 to 2012 and was a player for Reid in 1999.
Pederson played for four teams in 12 seasons in the NFL.
Eagledelphia will have full coverage of Pederson's introductory press conference and more on his hiring tomorrow.
