The 2015 Major League Baseball winter meetings are in full effect at they Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. At the Winter Meetings team executives meet together on baseball matters, but also devote a good amount of time to the upcoming season's roster. Agents sell their players to teams, players meet with prospective teams, and teams make trades. When asked what the Phillies will do before the meetings end on Thursday, Phillies general manager Matt Klentak tipped his hand a little bit.
Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that a deal could happen:
#Phillies GM Matt Klentak thinks he is closer on free-agent front than a trade. Expects something to happen before Thursday

So what type of move might the Phillies make?
The Phillies probably are looking to add a starting pitcher to compliment their current collection. The Phillies are heading into 2016 with a rotation of Jeremy Hellickson, Aaron Nola, Jerad Eickhoff, Adam Morgan and a bunch of question marks. David Buchanan had his share of struggles in 2015, as did Alec Asher, but they remain options. Less likely are Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez and Severino Gonzalez, but they will probably get a look in Spring Training.
However, what the Phillies do could depend on the Rule 5 draft. That takes place on Thursday. The Phillies could take multiple players. The Phillies took two in 2015 and very well could do the same.
