Emmanuel Acho hints at return following Jordan Hicks injury

With news surfacing of Jordan Hicks and his torn pectoral muscle, the Eagles look to have added a replacement to their linebacker corps, reportedly bringing back Emmanuel Acho. Acho posted this on Twitter on Monday evening.

Acho and the Eagles reached an injury settlement after the linebacker suffered a thumb injury during training camp. Under the agreement, Acho was unable to sign with the Eagles until week nine. He is eligible to return to the team on Tuesday.

Fansided interviewed Acho this past week about the possibility of donning midnight green again this season, which has become a reality sooner than he thought.

As of Tuesday, I am available to go back to Philadelphia. I do think there is potential for it to happen, but a lot obviously has to fall into place for me to re-join the team. One being another team not trying to sign me before any call from the Eagles and two the Eagles having to have a need (at inside linebacker). They obviously have a plethora of linebackers that are playing at a high level, so only time will tell. But I would definitely be eager at the opportunity to go back to Philadelphia.

In 14 games last season, Acho tallied 21 solo tackles and 31 combined. The University of Texas alum became a fan favorite quickly after he agreed to take one of his fans to prom, thanks to getting 10,000 retweets on Twitter.

Acho was also a big part of the recruiting process that brought newly-injured Jordan Hicks to Texas to play football.

Hicks is a guy that I actually recruited to come to Texas. I was at the Eagles-Cowboys playoff game in 2010, during my Sophomore season, and I remember getting a text from my defensive coordinator at the time, Will Muschamp, reminding me to recruit that kid (Hicks) to Texas. He goes to Texas, has a good career there, and I knew he was a great player, so I’m not surprised at all by how much success he’s having at the NFL level.

The Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night in overtime, 33-24. They return home to host the Dolphins on Sunday, November 15th at 1pm.
