Nik Stauskas a game-time decision for Sixers opener

The Sixers acquired Nik Stauskas from the Kings in July and he hasn't seen any action in the preseason due to injury.

Brett Brown and company open the season on Wednesday night in Boston and the former 2014 first round pick could see action for the first time in a Sixers uniform, Brown told CSNPhilly.com.

“I have 10 players for the next three games,” Brown said after practice. “Stauskas is still up in the air — he’s a game-time decision.”

Stauskas is recovering from a stress reaction in his right tibia that he suffered while participating on the Canada national team in the FIBA Tournament of the Americas. He participated in full practice on Tuesday for the first time since the beginning of training camp and hit 30 straight three-point shots in practice, according to Bob Cooney of The Daily News.

“I’m super excited. I worked so hard this offseason to prepare myself for this moment. So whether it’s [Wednesday] or later, I’m ready. I’m just ready to go.”

Last season for the Kings, Stauskas averaged 11.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

The Sixers open their home season on Friday night against the Utah Jazz at the Wells Fargo Center before playing host to LeBron James and the Cavs on Monday.
