PHILADELPHIA – Former Philadelphia Phillies right hander Curt Schilling joined Mike Missanelli on 97.5 The Fanatic Thursday afternoon to discuss a wide variety of topics, ranging from the postseason, to the six-time All-Star's controversial tweet sent during the Democratic debate.
One of the topics of discussion was the possibility of the Phillies hiring the first female general manager in professional sports history, Kim Ng.

"I know of [Kim Ng]. I heard of her a long, long time ago," said Schilling. "I don't know her [personally], but I have never heard anybody say that she is anything but outstanding at her job."
When asked by Missanelli if a woman can "actually judge major league, male baseball talent", Schilling replied, "Sure, why not? Theo Epstein never played an inning of meaningful baseball and he's about as good of an evaluator that I have ever seen."
"I've heard this woman is a world-class talent since day one."
Missanelli then changed topics by referencing Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe's report that former Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. wants to become a manager.
Schilling chuckled, and when asked if someone can go from being the general manager to the manager, he said, "No, [Amaro Jr.] shouldn't have been the first one."
"I'm not trying to be mean-spirited.
Ed Wade was a general manager. Was he a good one? … Just because someone holds a title and a job doesn't mean they are. What could [Ruben Amaro Jr.] possibly have done to make you think he's a manager?
I played with him and I know him. I don't have the first idea what he has ever done or said that would make someone think he could be a major league manager."
Amaro Jr. and Schilling were teammates on the Phillies from 1992-1993 and 1996-1998.
