Chip Kelly addresses college rumors, plans to stay in NFL

After the team got off to a slow start this season, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has been linked to numerous college head coaching positions at schools such as Maryland and USC.

In Thursday's press conference, Kelly tried to put those rumors to rest.

"No. No. No. No. No," Kelly said when asked if any colleges have contacted him about a job.

Kelly jokingly said that he is a candidate to coach the Texas State Armadillos, which is a fictional team from the movie Necessary Roughness

Kelly then gave a serious answer to the question, noting that he gets why people have linked him to the college job openings, but he would rather stick around and be successful in the NFL.

"I understand that it's gonna happen," Kelly said. "We're not successful, we're not winning, I came from college and I'm gonna go back to college. I hope some day to be like Coach Coughlin and win enough games where I can stay around long enough to where that speculation ends."

The last thing Kelly said about the issue is that players shouldn't see the rumors as a distraction because they have more important things to worry about, like figuring out a way to beat the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
