PHILADELPHIA – According to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com, the Miami Marlins will conduct a second interview with Phillies bench coach Larry Bowa on Thursday for their open managerial position.

Salisbury writes:

[Bowa] had previously interviewed for the position in 2012 when the Marlins hired Mike Redmond. Redmond was fired this season and replaced by general manager Dan Jennings, who will not manage the club in 2016. …

In addition to Bowa, the Marlins have interviewed Bo Porter, Manny Acta, Phil Nevin and Joey Cora. If Bowa does not get the Marlins job, he is likely to continue as Phillies bench coach.

Bowa reportedly had his first interview with the Marlins in New York City on Monday, Oct. 5, one day after he was asked by the Phillies to return as bench coach for the following season.

The 69-year-old baseball veteran has 853 games of managerial experience, as well as 2,247 games of playing experience under his belt. Approximately 76.9 percent, or 2,384 of these 3,100 combined games, have occurred in Philadelphia.

Bowa was the Phillies' starting shortstop from 1970-1981, and their manager from 2001-2004.

The Marlins are reportedly looking for an 'experienced manager', per Salisbury.
