Romo to IR/designated for return list, out 8 weeks: The Cowboys are placing Tony Romo on the injured reserve/designated for return list, which means the quarterback will be unable to practice for six weeks and play in a game for eight weeks.
With the Cowboys' bye week, Romo will miss seven games and will be eligible to return for the team's Nov. 22 game against the Miami Dolphins. The news also means that Romo would miss the rematch against the Eagles in Dallas on Nov. 8.
This news comes just one day after the Cowboys determined that the 35-year-old would not require surgery to repair his broken collarbone after a CT scan revealed no ligament of muscle damage.
In light of Romo's injury, the Cowboys are working out veteran quarterbacks Christian Ponder, Josh Johnson and Matt Flynn on Tuesday to serve as backup options in Romo's absence.
Brees could miss games after rotator cuff injury: Drew Brees has not missed a single game since he signed with the Saints before the 2006 season, but that streak is now in jeopardy after he suffered a shoulder injury during Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Saints believe Brees suffered an injury to his rotator cuff that could cause him to miss several games. The 36-year-old underwent an MRI Monday and is expected to undergo further tests Tuesday and Wednesday.
If Brees is forced to miss games, the 0-2 Saints will have to rely on backup Luke McCown to avoid an 0-3 start to the season when the team travels to Carolina to take on the Panthers.
Decker to undergo MRI on left knee: New York Jets receiver Eric Decker will undergo an MRI after suffering a knee injury Monday night against the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite the MRI, Decker is optimistic that the injury won't be season-ending.
"They don't think it's surgical, so I don't think it's too serious," Decker said in a post-game interview.
The 28-year-old indicated that the early diagnosis could be a sprained posterior cruciate ligament based on post-game tests. Although the injury may not be season-ending, Decker hinted that he'll likely miss some time as a precautionary measure.
"I'm going to be smart about it this time," Decker said. "I'm not going to rush myself. Obviously, I want to be out there as soon as possible, but we're going to take the proper steps."
Decker caught eight passes for 97 yards and a touchdown—all in the first half—before suffering the injury. On the season, he has 10 catches for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
Giants release WR Preston Parker: The New York Giants released receiver Preston Parker, who has dropped five passes through two games, Tuesday following the team's loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
On Monday, quarterback Eli Manning was confident that Parker would right the ship and insisted that he would still be looking his way in the passing game.
"I'm going to keep throwing to him," Manning said Monday.
Head coach Tom Coughlin claims that the move was made to make room on the roster for defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis, but said that Parker's drops this season were a factor.
"Preston Parker, for the majority of the time he was here, was a physical, tough football player who made plays when called upon," Coughlin said. "That hadn't been the case so far this year. We thank him for his service."
Parker assumed duties as the Giants' number three receiver in the wake of Victor Cruz's injury. In two games with Giants this season, the 28-year-old hauled in five passes for 43 yards.
