The Philadelphia Flyers will have a full compliment of players as they kick off their preseason home schedule against the New York Rangers tonight. This is the first of two preseason meetings between the Metropolitan Division rivals. Game time is 7:00.
The Flyers picked up a split squad split with the New York Islanders last night. In a game played in Allentown, the Flyers defeated the Islanders by a score of 5-3. That game saw five different players light the lamp including rookie Travis Konecny.
The other half of the team traveled to Brooklyn where they were defeated 3-2. The team in Brooklyn saw the best of the Islanders including captain John Tavares and goaltender Jaroslav Halak while Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek played on the team in Allentown.
Flyers number one netminder Steve Mason did not play in either game last night and figures to play tonight. Defenseman Mark Streit, Travis Sanheim, and Nick Schultz also figure to play.
New York also played last night defeating the New Jersey Devils 6-3. The Rangers opted to not play many NHL regulars in the win. They are expected to dress more for tonight's matchup.
