The Philadelphia Eagles received some good news today, as the team prepares for it's regular season-opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.
Tight end Zach Ertz has been cleared by team physicians to participate in practice. Although he has been cleared by doctors, head coach Chip Kelly will be cautious with Ertz before allowing him to return to the field. The Eagles didn't hit during practice today, and it is unknown as to how big Ertz's workload will be during this week of practice.
Ertz sustained a core muscle injury during training camp practice, which required surgery on Aug. 8.
Ertz is expected to be a key component to the Eagles offensive attack this season. Ertz had been working extremely hard during camp to improve upon his blocking ability, as he is already a flourished route runner. If Ertz is unable to go against the Falcons, backup Trey Burton will be asked to step up as his replacement.
The Eagles have two more practices and a walkthrough before the game in prime time on Monday, Sept. 14.
