What seemed to be a minor wrist injury for Phillies rookie third baseman, Maikel Franco, has affected him enough to be placed on the disabled list this afternoon. Phillies.com's Todd Zolecki notes that it is a small fracture that will keep Franco out for a longer period of time, likely at least two to three weeks.
Manuel Franco has small non-displaced fracture on left wrist. Placed on DL. Altherr to take his spot on the roster.

Franco has a "very small non-displaced fracture," Amaro said, "in a very small bone outside his left wrist." Unsure if he'll return in 2015.

Outfield prospect Aaron Altherr will take Franco's roster spot. A ninth round pick by the Phillies in 2009, Altherr is hitting .294 in Triple-A with 13 doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 38 RBI's and 29 runs scored. He went a combined 5-for-9 with a run scored on Saturday and Sunday against Pawtucket. Last season, Altherr was called up in a fill-in role and went hitless with two strikeouts in five at bats. According to Delaware Online's Meghan Montemurro, the Phillies still plan on keeping Cody Asche in left field, so Altherr's role is yet to be determined.
