The Flyers announced the signing of 31-year-old left wing Chris Porter today to a two-way contract according to general manager Ron Hextall

The 6-1, 206-pound forward has spent parts of six seasons with the St. Louis Blues, registering 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points.

Porter is no stranger to Flyers first-year coach Dave Hakstol. He played for the University of North Dakota from 2003-07, where he scored 42 goals and added 51 assists for 93 points in 175 games. He was a teammate of current Flyers forward Chris VandeVelde during the 2006-07 season.

Porter was selected in the ninth round – 282nd overall – of the 2003 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.
