Cole Hamels said goodbye to Philadelphia yesterday in an afternoon press conference before boarding a flight to his new ballpark in Arlington, TX. While seeing Hamels go was a sad sight, seeing him in a Texas Rangers uniform is an even weirder sight.
After 10 years in Philadelphia, Cole will start the next step in his baseball career on Saturday night, when he takes the mound against Chris Heston (11-5, 3.14) and the San Francisco Giants. Hamels is excited that the Rangers still have a chance to make the playoffs and wants to be a part of that run.
"If I can create a winning streak and start to win some decisive games, then that's what I want to be a part of," Hamels said. "As much as all the work they've put in this year that I haven't been a part of, I'm not going to try and come in and solve everything. I'm just going to be what I can out on the field, and enjoy the moment, too." [Rangers.com]
