Between the lines: Todd Kalas speaks, Phillies pitcher Nola has a pitcher brother, and Mackanin is managing just fine

This Tuesday edition of "Between the Lines" we look at some of the best articles in the internet that you might have missed.  Today we look at  a few that you'll find interesting.  Aaron Nola has a brother who pitches in the minor leagues.  Todd Kalas is back in town as part of the Rays broadcast team.  Pete Mackanin is doing just fine in his third interim manager stint of his career.

In this piece that appeared on NOLA.com in April, we get a look at Aaron Nola's older brother Austin.  Like Aaron Nola, Austin Nola was also drafted and is climbing up the minor league ladder.  Currently with the AAA New Orleans Zephyrs, Austin Nola will get his name on both the front of his jersey and on the back of his jersey.  "NOLA" is a commonly used abbreviation for New Orleans LA (Louisiana).

Randy Miller, author of one of the great Harry Kalas books written, caught up with Harry's son Todd Kalas.  Kalas has served as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays broadcast team since they were formed back in 1998.  It is not often that the Tampa Bay Rays head to Philadelphia for a regular season game, but of course that is occurring today.

About to turn 50, Kalas has high hopes of being a full-time baseball play-by-play broadcaster.

Jack McCaffery, Delco Times

Pete Mackanin was given a thankless task, one that he has been given twice before: ride out the rest of the season as manager of a failing team.   In McCaffery's piece, Mackanin says, “This is my third time as an interim manager…and it’s not fun. It is not a pleasant thing to do.”

Yet, McCaffery writes, Mackanin is teaching his players to make fewer mistakes, while he still gets the opportunity to joke with the players.
